Stump Truck Rides Again

Victorian State Election 2006

The Stump Truck is again cruising around the marginal seats of Melbourne, trying to draw attention to the continued logging of old growth and water catchment forests of Victoria.

Thanks to some dodgy person stealing a camera from the truck on Brunswick St (thanks alot - steal from poor grassroots organisations ...) there are no photos as yet but hopefully will be soon.....stay tuned...

See Stump Truck 2002 and Stump Truck 1998 for past stump truck info....

Brack's Forest Policy a wasted opportunity

Despite sounding pretty good for East Gippsland (though terrible for the Central Highlands) a closer look at the detail of the Labor's forest policy announcement reveals all is not as it seems.

A breakdown of the policy, based on very bad maps provided by the Labor party, is as follows:

Much of the so-called 45000 hectares that are protectec under the new policy was not up for logging - because either it couldnt be logged (too steep etc) or was already logged. There was only about 1200ha outside of Goolengook included. So no wonder the logging industry was happy with the announcement.
